About us
Who we are
We are a community-rooted initiative dedicated to decolonial education, cultural transmission, and collective empowerment.
We exist to create spaces where African and Afro-descendant communities can learn, remember, and thrive — reconnecting with their histories, cultures, and ways of knowing while building confidence, literacy, and community strength.
Our work centers African-centered literacy programs for children and cultural celebration spaces that bring communities together through history, storytelling, art, and music. Through these spaces, we support intergenerational exchange, critical thinking, and a strong sense of identity.
Grounded in the values of Ubuntu, collective care, dignity, and ancestral knowledge, Nzerengo Tere works with communities, not for them. We believe education and culture are powerful tools for healing, resistance, and imagining liberated futures.
